Anand Dwivedi, the Chief of BJP's Lucknow unit, revealed that Singh will kickstart the nomination process from the Uttar Pradesh BJP office, located opposite the Vidhan Sabha. Following this, he will embark on a procession, riding a motorised chariot accompanied by Ministers, the Mayor, senior party members, and other supporters, to the collectorate for the formal filing.

If elected, this will mark Rajnath Singh's third consecutive term as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Lucknow. He first contested from the city in 2014, prior to which he represented Ghaziabad in the Lok Sabha during the 2009 elections.

Historically, Lucknow was represented by the late Lalji Tandon, succeeded by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who held the position for five consecutive terms before retiring from active electoral politics.

Additionally, O.P. Srivastava, the BJP's candidate for the Lucknow (East) Assembly bypolls, is scheduled to file his nomination on April 26. This bypoll was necessitated by the unfortunate passing of incumbent lawmaker Ashutosh Tandon Gopal.
