Bhubaneswar, Sept 12: Daughters or step daughters irrespective of their marital status would be considered for compassionate appointment in case of death of any Odisha government employee.
Earlier, only unmarried daughters and step daughters were considered for compassionate appointment in the state government job in event of death of an employee during his/her service period.
The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday accorded seal of approval to the proposal. As per the provisions of the Odisha Civil Service (Rehabilitation Assistance) Rules, 2020, unmarried daughters and stepdaughters of deceased government servants were being considered for compassionate appointment, whereas the case of married daughters and married stepdaughters were not considered.
It is therefore proposed to amend the OCS (RA) Rules, 2020 for consideration of the case of daughters and stepdaughters irrespective of the status of their marriage for compassionate appointment subject to conditions that their ‘dependency’ on their parents is proved, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said, adding that the proposal in this regard was approved by the State Cabinet on Thursday.
