Jharsuguda, Nov 4: Slain minister Naba Das' daughter Dipali Das is leading the BJD in Jharsuguda after being elected as MLA. Similarly, her brother Vishal Das has been active in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts as a frontline BJD organiser.
The brother-sister duo has been playing pivotal roles in the party organisation ahead of 2024 election.
Naba Das had started his political career from Sambalpur and later, shifted to Jharsuguda and emerged as a tall leader of the district.
He had a strong political impact in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts. The BJD had awarded ticket to many candidates of the region on his recommendation.
The brother-sister duo is now on full swing to carry forward the political legacy of the late minister and making their grip strong in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda working with grassroots level workers.
As BJD MLAs of Jharsuguda and Brajarajnagar constituencies are considered as winnable candidates for 2024, their tickets are already confirmed by the party. If the party mulls to change its candidates in the two constituencies, then the brother-sister duo cannot be sidelined, said a political onlooker.
Now Vishal has emerged as a strong leader in Sambalpur and an aspirant for party ticket. However, everything depends on party supremo Naveen Patnaik and state leadership managing organisation affairs, said a senior BJD leader of western Odisha on condition of anonymity.
