Dalmia OCL gets State Government nod to resume production in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 21: Dalmia OCL, India’s fastest-growing refractory company and a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Group has got a go ahead from the Government of Odisha to restart operations at its plant at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district. The plant is in the process of resuming production while strictly adhering to the specified norms on social distancing, hygiene, availability of food and health measures like availability of adequate masks and sanitizers in its plant/ facility. To ensure strict compliance with the government’s norms on social distancing and hygiene, the refractory will run with 900 workers in 3 different shifts. The plant, which has an annual capacity of 106 KMT, employs around 2700workers under normal circumstances. The refractory will operate as per the Standard Operating Procedure for Social Distancing for Offices, Workplace, Factories and Establishments. It will follow all the directives provided by the government such as wearing masks inside and outside the plant, adequate arrangements of thermal screening and sanitizers, frequent cleaning of common rooms, gap of one hour between shifts to maintain social distance and prohibition on large gatherings, etc. Moreover, medical insurance for the workers will be done by the company to safeguard the health of the employees. Further, in case of workers coming from outside, special transportation facility will be arranged without any dependency on the public transport system. These vehicles will be allowed to ply only with 30 - 40 % passenger capacity. The operations at the plant were shut down due to a nationwide lockdown to battle COVID – 19. While the Dalmia plant has been taking care of its personnel during this period by providing bi-monthly salaries to the contractual workers, supplying food, medicines and other essential services, resumption of the plant will provide the much-needed relief and financial support to daily wage earners. The company will continue to be in regular touch with the District Administration and State Government for further directions.
