Jharsuguda, June 22: The Jharsuguda police nabbed a cyber fraudster for looting lakhs of rupees through a mobile app at Soroda in the district today.
The accused has been identified as Sunil Routray.
Addressing a press meet Jharsuguda SP said, Routray, who had only studied Class IX, was involved in many cyber crimes and has been looting people on the pretext of providing attracting offers through a mobile app.
On May 10, he looted Rs 10,000 from a doctor in a similar manner following which, the victim had lodged a complaint at Jharsuguda police station in this regard. Basing on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and nabbed the accused from Sororda.
The police have also seized 11 mobile phones, 28 SIM cards and 15 ATM cards of different banks from his possession.
Further investigation is underway to nab any other accused if any, said an official.
