Cuttack, Jan18: After restlessness congestion for almost a year, the isolation ward in Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College & Hospital (SCBMCH) is breathing fresh air. For the first time, it is lying vacant on January 17 with no covid-19 patient now.
The sudden recede of patients in the well-congested ward has a bit relax for the doctors and the frontline warriors.
The isolation ward in SCB was established on January 27 last year. It was readied earlier keeping the peak of Covid -19 pandemic in Odisha.
Here, 8 sophisticated ICU beds and 46 general beds were arranged for Covid positive patient’s immense care.
The ward became functional from March-2020 with houseful positive cases. On the increase of covid-19 patients, this ward got upgraded to 280 with additional provisions.
However, the frequency of more than 500 positive cases per day crowed the ward triggering concern for the doctors and health crew.
Notably, the isolation ward had got only three patients for a couple of days. They were discharged on last Wednesday.
Similarly, no positive case has turned up now. Thus, the whole ward is running out of the patient.
