Covid negative woman dies due to lack of ICU bed in SCB Hospital

Jagatsinghpur, May 19: A woman of Jagatsingpur district allegedly died due to lack of ICU bed in Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Her family alleged so after the woman breathed her last in the tuberculosis ward of the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Mitali Sahu (32) of Arana village in the district. As per the allegation of the woman’s husband Upendra Sahu, Mitali was admitted to the Jagatsingpur district headquarters hospital on May 12 after she felt uneasy in breathing. She was tested there for Covid and the report came negative. Later, she was rushed to the SCB Hospital as her health condition worsened. She was admitted to the Covid suspected ward of SCB and tested for Corona that also came negative. Meanwhile, the oxygen level in Mitali’s body depleted alarmingly for which she needed an ICU bed. However, she could not get an ICU bed for a couple of days and died on May 16, said Upendra.
