Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: A couple allegedly attempted to commit suicide in front of Assembly building in the city. The couple tried self-immolation by pouring kerosene on them. They tried to set themselves ablaze on the road passing through the state secretariat demanding justice to their daughter who was allegedly raped and killed, said police. Such an incident in the VIP road when Assembly session was on has raised question mark on security arrangements. Police deployed in the area rushed to the spot and rescued the couple hailing from Nayagarh district. Raising the issue in the House, Congress legislative party leader Narasingha Mishra blamed the intelligence failure and breach of security near the Assembly when it is in session. What is the police doing? We feel insecure if anyone hurls bomb on the Assembly what will happen, questioned Mishra. He sought security cover for the MLAs.
