Construction of Habisiali Bhawan in Puri nears completion

Puri, July 28: The construction of Habisiali Bhawan with dormitory accommodation in Puri is nearing completion, informed district administration officials. It has the capacity to accommodate over 1200 ‘Habisialis’ (elderly widow devotees who observe Kartik Brata at Sri Jagannath temple during the holy Hindu month of Kartik) Officials said that it will provide affordable accommodation facilities at minimal cost for devotees, visiting Puri for darshan of Jagannatha. “In the month of Kartika, this facility will be provided to Habisialis visiting Puri for observing Habisiali Brata free of cost,” said an official. Earlier in 2019, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched Kartik Brata programme for devotees during the holy month of Kartik. Besides accommodation, provision of Maha Prasad, fruits and cultural programmes are organised for the entertainment of the devotees.
