Puri, May 5: Miscreants allegedly attacked Congress nominee for Puri Assembly segment Uma Ballav Rath on Sunday.
The incident came to fore when Rath lodged complaint with the Kumbharapada police after first aid.
According to the complaint, Rath who was declared as the Congress candidate today, had gone to the Puri bus-stand for some poll related works. Meanwhile, a group of miscreants attacked him with stones & brick and threatened him to kill.
Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation, said Puri ASP Sushil Kumar Mishra.
Worth mentioning, the Congress party office in Puri witnessed pandemonium as party workers resorted to vandalism in the afternoon following the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) changed its nominee for the Puri Sadar Assembly constituency Sujit Mohapatra and replaced him with Uma Ballav Rath.
