Sonepur, Sept 2: Congress has called a 12-hour bandh in Sonepur on Thursday over a four-point charter of demands on Thursday. Accordingly, Congress activists staged a road blocked at Birmaharajpur square in the morning and carried picketing in the town. As a result, vehicular movements and public activities got partially affected. An ally of Sonepur District Congress and Birmaharajpur block Congress carried the bandh in Birmaharajpur town demanding NAC status to Birmaharajpur, a barrage over Mahanadi at Baunsuni, a check-dam in Gurubali river and canal network for Harihar Nalah. Apart from it, the Congress activists raised their voice to declare Sonepur cluster as a fully drought affected area.
