Bhubaneswar, May 15: The coming monsoon will be farmer friendly in Odisha. It will be favourable for ravi crops and paddy due to adequate quantity of rainfall in time, predicts the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The recent bulletin on the weather cast accounts the latest trend of monsoon in the state. As per the second bulletin of IMD, most probably monsoon will touch Odisha landscape in second week of June 10-12. Even, Odisha may experience monsoon rain two or three days prior to it. The South-Western monsoon is expected to arrive the land of Kerla by May 31 or few days before it. Thus, Kerla is likely to see monsoon within May 28-June 4. Eminent climatologist and the Director of Climate & Environment Centre (CEC) of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu also predicted about the normal monsoon in Odisha. According to him, Nor’wester that comes almost every day implies the in time or advance arrival of the monsoon into the state. However, the other relative factors may fluctuate its date of arrival to the state. Similarly, Monsoon rain in Odisha will start in time with respect to Kerla. Normal rainfall and requisite quantity of rain will favour Odisha based farming. However, exact forecast of the monsoon can be clear after studying its signature in Kerla, he added.
