BSF holds Arms’ Expo in Odisha: Know details

Koraput, Sept 25: In a bid to promote mass education, public awareness and youth empowerment, the BSF has held an ‘Arms Exhibition’ for the students, youths and locals in Koraput district of Odisha.

The BSF 180 Battalion deployed in Odisha to battle Maoism and nullify Left Wing Activism, has organised the special event.

The event has been organised with an aim to foster patriotism, national pride, and motivate among local youths to join the security forces and police. The 180 Battalion Border Security Force (BSF), under the command of Kailash Lukha,   Commandant, organised  the  Weapons and Equipment  Expo at the Koraput Government College. 

This exhibition aims to instill a sense of patriotism among students and teachers while promoting awareness of the vital role played by the security forces in ensuring the safety and security of the nation. Such programmes not only motivate the youth but also encourage them to be responsible citizens, said a BSF officer.

The objective of the display was to educate students and local youths about the various firearms and equipment used by the BSF in the context of anti-Naxal operations (ANO). BSF instructors guided the attendees through the exhibition, explaining the use and importance of each piece of weaponry, the officer added.

Students and youths participated in the exhibition enthusiastically, eager to learn about the different types of weapons and equipment used by BSF and other security forces, to save borders, fight back enmies and serve the nation with utmost courage of patriotism.

 Both teachers and students expressed their appreciation for the BSF’s efforts in organising such motivational and educational activities. These initiatives play a crucial role in inspiring the youth to consider careers in the armed forces and police. Moreover, they help build stronger bonds between civilians and security forces, fostering cooperation and understanding.

Worth mentioning, the BSF contingents deployed in the cut-off areas of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts of Odisha, is safeguarding the state on the Chhattissgarh and Andhra Pradesh Border. Apart from their sole duties, the BSF as a peace-making armed force, is transforming lives of tribal youths, showing them doors out from Naxalism, who had by chance involed themselves with antisocialism and violence out of ignorance and lack of social inductance.
