Cold wave returns in Odisha, night temperature dips to single digit at nine places

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: The night temperature dipped to single digit at nine places in the interior districts of Odisha last night with return of cold wave this week. Phulbani was the coldest at 4.5°C, followed by Daringbadi (7.5°C), Balangir (7.8°C), Jharsuguda (8.2°C), Keonjhar (8.2°C), Bhawanipatna (8.5°C), Sonepur (9.5°C), Angul (9.6°C) and Baripada (9.6°C). Apart from this, the night temperature remained below 15°C at 16 places witnessed the night temperature below 15°C in the state.  Balasore recorded (11.5°C), Chandbali (12°C) Paradip (14.3°C), Angul (11.6°C), Sambalpur (11.3°C), Sundargarh (10.5°C), Hirakud (10.9°C), Talcher (12.3°C), Bhawanipatna (10°C), Koraput (10.2°C), Titlagarh (11.3°C), Malkangiri (12.5°C), Nayagarh (12°C) and Boudh (11°C). The night temperature was recorded 13°C in Bhubaneswar and 11.8°C in Cuttack. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the intense cold wave condition will prevail in Odisha till February 5 with the night temperature falling by 3-5°C.
