Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) bus service in 5 more districts through video conferencing.
He inaugurated affordable bus service in Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Nuapada and Boudh.
Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that LAccMI Bus will make the social and cultural programs more effective in all the villages of the state and will bring widespread economic growth. Villagers can travel by the bus with low cost which will make their life easier.
With the bus service being expanded to five more districts today, a total of 255 buses will ply in 1057 panchayats and will benefit more than 71 lakh people.
A total of 48 buses were rolled out in 315 panchayats of Balasore which will benefit 20.42 lakh people. Similarly, 25 buses will ply in 123 panchayats of Nuapada which will benefit 5.74 lakh people, 10 buses will serve 3.53 lakh people in 55 panchayats of Boudh. Meanwhile, 34.47 lakh people in 433 panchayats of Ganjam will be benefitted by 130 buses and 7.50 lakh people in 131 panchayats of Jagatsinghpur will be benefitted by 42 buses.
Worth mentioning, LAccMI buses have started operating in all 30 districts of Odisha. A total of 1354 buses have been started running in 30 districts and benefited 3.64 crore people of 6031 panchayats. A total of 1745 buses will run in all the panchayats of the state.
In this programme, launched under the 5T scheme, Mission Shakti members have been given the responsibility of operating the buses.
