CM launches new food security scheme

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched its own food security scheme today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to cover nearly 34.44 lakh people, who have been left out under the National Food Security Act (NFSA)-2013.
The CM launched the scheme through video conference at the State Secretariat here.
Special programmes were organized in Khunta, Jaleswar and Rajgangpur blocks where cards were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Launching own food security act was also one of the promises in the BJD election manifesto in the run up 2014 elections. Under the scheme, the each beneficiary will get food grains at Re 1 per kg.
