CM commends Forest dept for increasing mangrove cover

Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has commended Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department as Odisha has added 537.44 Sq Km forest cover and topped among all states in increasing mangrove cover in the last 2 years. Odisha ranked 3rd in growth of forest cover among states as per India State of Forest Report 2021, compared to 2019 assessment. The Chief Minister said that as per the biennial survey, out of 30 districts, 23 districts have shown increase in forest cover. In addition, the Similipal Tiger Reserve has been rated among top 3 Tiger Reserves in terms of forest cover in the country, he added.
