Chandigarh, June 6: Following an incident where actress-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut was reportedly "slapped and abused" by a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport, the said constable has been suspended and taken for questioning by the CISF Commandant Office.
The constable in question, identified as Kulvinder Kaur, who had been stationed at the airport for the past two-and-a-half years, was seen on television channels after the altercation, expressing her discontent over Kangana's statements during the farmers' agitation.
Kaur mentioned her personal anguish, citing Kangana's remarks about the farmers protesting, including the reference to them as 'Khalistanis'. She also highlighted that her own mother had participated in the protests when Kangana made those statements.
The incident occurred as Kangana was en route to New Delhi to attend a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party. Kangana herself confirmed the incident, stating that Kaur slapped her at the security checkpoint due to her previous remarks on the farmer protests in Punjab.
Kangana, although unharmed, expressed concern over the growing concerns of militancy and terrorism in Punjab.
Footage shared immediately after the incident depicted the commotion that ensued, allegedly sparked by Kangana's refusal to surrender her mobile phone for security check, and a subsequent minor scuffle.
Kaur's brother, Sher Singh, revealed that she has been serving with the CISF for almost 16 years, and her husband is also employed with the same force.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher condemned the incident, accusing BJP leaders of defaming the farmers and criticizing the use of force against them.
In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Kangana emerged victorious from Mandi, defeating her closest rival from the Congress party by a significant margin.
