Choudwar police cracks interstate sandal racket

Choudwar, Mar 11: Choudwar police seized huge cache of sandal wood from the possession of an interstate smuggler and arrested him.  The smuggler has been identified as Rasanada Sahu, a man of Rasanahakani village under Tangi police limits in Cuttack district.  He was allegedly trading about 91.65 kilograms of sandal wood with Divya Ranjan Sahu of Bhubaneswar.  Acting on a reliable source, Choudwar police conducted a surprise raid at Karanji and recovered 22 pieces of sandal wrapped with sack.  The cost of the seized sandal wood would be Rs 10 lakhs. Investigation is on to trace the other accused entangled with the case, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Cuttack in a press conference.
