New Delhi, July 18: Three students from AIIMS Patna have been questioned by the CBI in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case, officials confirmed on Thursday. The students' identities and further details were not immediately disclosed.
Earlier this week, the CBI arrested Pankaj Kumar, also known as Aditya, a civil engineer from NIT Jamshedpur's 2017 batch, for allegedly stealing the NEET-UG paper from an NTA trunk in Hazaribagh. Kumar, a resident of Bokaro, was apprehended in Patna. Another individual, Raju Singh, was also arrested from Hazaribagh for allegedly assisting Kumar in the theft.
The CBI's investigation spans six FIRs, with one from Bihar focusing on the paper leak and others from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra addressing impersonation and cheating allegations. Initiated based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry, the agency's own FIR aims to comprehensively investigate the irregularities surrounding the NEET-UG 2024.
NEET-UG, administered by the NTA, facilitates admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related courses in both government and private institutions. The exam, conducted on May 5 across 4,750 centers in 571 cities (including 14 abroad), saw participation from over 23 lakh candidates.
