Cuttack, Jan 2: At least three persons were killed and 40 others were injured after a bus and a truck collided head-on in Nischintakoili block of Odisha’s Cuttack district this morning.
As per reports, the mishap took place on Cuttack-Chandbali road near Katarapada at around 7.30 am when a bus with several passengers on-board was heading towards Cuttack from Chandbali and it collided head-on with a truck.
While three of the passengers died on the spot under the impact of the collision, 40 others sustained injuries in the accident.
Upon getting the information, police along with Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to rescue the passengers trapped inside the damaged bus.
The bodies of the deceased persons were seized and sent for post-mortem. The injured ones were admitted to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
