BSF officer arrested for fraud: Rs 14 cr, luxury cars seized

Gurgaon, Jan 17: a Border Security Force (BSF) officer has been arrested in Haryanafor cheating people of Rs 125 crore while posing as an Indian Police Service officer, police said on Monday.As many as Rs 14 crore in cash, jewellery worth Rs one crore and seven luxury cars, including a BMW, Jeep and Mercedes has been recovered from his possession, police informed.The arrested, identified as BSF Deputy Commandant Praveen Yadav, was posted in the National Security Guard headquarters (NSG) at Manesar in Gurgaon district.The Gurgaon police has also arrested the officer's wife, Mamta Yadav, sister Ritu and an accomplice.Posing as an IPS officer, MrYadav took crores of rupees from people posing as an IPS officer to get them construction contracts in the NSG campus, police said."He got all the money of the fraud transferred to a fake account opened in the name of NSG. This account was opened by his sister Ritu Yadav, a manager in Axis Bank," police said."Praveen Yadav planned to cheat people after he suffered a loss of Rs 60 lakh in the stock market", said Preet Pal Singh, ACP Crime, Gurgaon Police.Yadav recently got a posting in Agartala but a few days ago, he resigned from the post.
