Balasore, Aug 21: The Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday has seized brown sugar worth Rs 1.1 crore from Balasore on Sunday and arrested four persons in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Sk Fayaz, Sk Shamshed, Sk Murad and Sandeep Nayak, all residents of various parts of Balasore district.
On the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by a team of STF with the help of Balasore district police near Balasore Railway Station Road on Sunday. The raiding team seized brown sugar weighing 1100 grams from the accused.
Since 2020, STF has seized more than 71 kilograms of brown sugar, 202 gram of cocaine, 750 gram opium and more than 116 quintals of ganja. The agency has also arrested as many as 176 drug peddlers and dealers during this period. The STF has also destroyed more than 62 kilograms of seized brown sugar and 136 quintals of ganja in last one year.
