Keonjhar. Sept 14: Bodies of a former Sarpanch and her husband were recovered from a well in mysterious circumstances on Thursday. The incident occurred in Mayurnacha village under K. Baliapal panchayat of Keonjhar district.
The deceased have been identified as Rambha Patra and her husband Niranjan Patra. Niranjan was working as a ‘Gramarakhi’ at a local police outpost.
According to the information, the incident came to fore after the villagers found them missing and after a frantic search they spotted the body of the couple in the well. However, it has been suspected that unidentified miscreants might have murdered them and dumped them in a well in the house’s backyard.
Being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body of the couple and sent for autopsy.
A complaint in this regard has been lodged with Soso police. However, the exact reason for the brutal murder is yet to be ascertained.
