BMC serves notice to 364 holding tax defaulters

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has served red notice to 364 holding tax defaulters. BMC officials said that notices have been served to people having pending holding tax of more than Rs 10000. “As per the notice the defaulters have been given dead line of February 28 to pay their dues failing to which certificate case will be initiated against the defaulters as per Odisha Public Demand Recovery act 1962,” said a BMC official. Officials said that civic body had earlier served them notices in December but the owners failed to pay the tax. In a related development, TG Swikriti Group engaged for collection of defaulters’ tax has collected an amount of Rs 3.73 lakh from ward no. 28 and 31.
