BMC limits number of participants in marriages and funerals in view of second Covid-19 wave

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: Keeping in view possible second wave of Covid-19 infections, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today revised guidelines for gatherings in marriage and funeral ceremonies. As per the revised guidelines come into effect from November 25, 100 attendees will be allowed in marriage functions while maximum of 50 persons will be allowed in death rituals. As per the revised guideline, the permission for the functions will obtained from the local police station while marriage procession of any kind is strictly prohibited. Besides the host of the function need to ensure thermal screening of all participants at the entrance of the venue. The other conditions include physical distancing of at least 6 feet, mandatorily use of face mask during the function except during eating and provision of adequate hand sanitization. “ The hosts will be liable for penal action in case of any violation. The owner of the kalyan mandaps, convention halls and marriage halls need to provide the details of the function to be conducted along with the name of the host and permitted number of participants to BMC prior to seven days of the conduct of the function,” said an official.
