BMC encourages digital payment

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The city administration has paved way to digital payment system. The initiative will include big and small business units across the city. With a green signal to start the Unified Payment Interface Quick Response (UPI QR ) process to encourage digital payment in the city, today Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC)  has communicated authorisation to the agency namely  "One97 Communication Ltd (Paytm)" .  Especially small business units and merchants like tea stalls owners, street vendors, shopkeepers, etc. will be approached and educated about the transparent system. There were different rounds of discussions with “Phone pay”, “Bharat” pay and “Paytm” representatives with chairmanship of the Commissioner Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh. As observed by the committee “Paytm” is providing more facilities to citizens, so it was decided to authorise the agency to lunch a drive in the BMC area.       The team of “Paytm” will cover whole city to promote the activity, told Srimanta Mishra, Deputy Commissioner (revenue), BMC. Their activities include UPI QR on boarding of small merchants, tea stalls owners, street vendors and shopkeepers in complete 67 wards of Bhubaneswar.
