Bhubaneswar, May 14: Newly-Joined Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Singh, today visited COVID-19 vaccination centres in the Capital City to take stock of the entire process and laid emphasis on ramping up vaccination coverage soon. The Commissioner visited vaccination sites at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at Unit-II, Unit-III, Unit-IX and Loyola School at Jaydev Vihar where he inspected the overall arrangements to make vaccination process smooth and hassle-free. Expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements, Shri Singh said: “The arrangement for vaccination drive is quite satisfactory, people are coming to take the jab as per their booked slot or timing. Moreover, residents of Bhubaneswar have been supporting, cooperating the efforts of BMC during this pandemic time, which is really good for all of us.” The Commissioner further stressed upon strictly adhering to the Covid guidelines such as proper wearing of mask, maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitizer etc. at the vaccination sites. Further, BMC Commissioner has advised to be prepared with infrastructure for ramping up of vaccinations as per availability”. The BMC Commissioner also observed that the people are eager to take the vaccine for which they are reaching the centres earlier than their slot booking time which is leading to rush. In this regard, the Commissioner advised people not to create rush at the sites and wait for their slot to avoid crowding at the vaccination centres. Residents in the 18-44 years age group are being vaccinated between 8.30 AM to 1 PM while those above 45 years have been slotted between 3 PM and 6 PM.
