BJP youth wing activists clash with police in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: At least a dozen of police personnel were injured after an agitation by the youth wing of BJP demanding the resignation of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra turned violent at Lower PMG. The youth wing of the BJP today staged a massive demonstration at Lower PMG demanding removal of Mishra from the State cabinet over his alleged involvement in Mamita Meher murder case. The agitators were stopped by the police while they were trying to march towards the Assembly which led to a scuffle with the police. However, the protestors later clashed with the police and ransacked several police vehicles. They also pelted stones at the police. As a result of which several police personnel were injured. Police later used batons to disperse the mob. The injured police personnel are undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital. Police Commissioner S.K.Priyadarshi met the injured personnel at Capital Hospital and inquired about their health. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Umashankar Dash said that a probe will be carried out into the stone pelting and ransacking of police vehicles. “Videography and CCTV footage will be examined and action will be taken after investigation,” said Dash.
