Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party has started searching for reasons behind its defeat in the Assembly elections and ‘no so good performance’ in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Core Committee Meeting of the BJP State unit is now being held under the chairmanship of the party’s State president Basant Panda. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP national general secretary and Odisha-in-charge Arun Singh are present, among others.
Though the party had made all efforts to achieve “Mission 120+” (to win more than 120 Assembly seats out of total 147), yet the party could win in only 23 seats. Similarly, the BJP won in eight Lok Sabha seats out of total 21. Though the performance is comparatively better than that of 2014 elections, yet the results were not to the expectations of the party’s ranks and files.
The leaders will find out reasons in this regard, said reports.
