Bhubaneswar, Feb, 24:  The recent survey report indicates that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is poised to form the government in Odisha with a thumping majority. Out of the 147 assembly seats, the BJD is projected to win 128 seats. Additionally, in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the BJD is expected to secure eighteen seats.

This potential victory would mark a historic achievement for the BJD, as it would be their sixth consecutive term in power. If successful, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would become the longest-serving chief minister in India. The party leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra, spokesperson Swayam Prakash Mohapatra, and Ipsit Sahu, expressed their excitement during a press conference, emphasizing that this assembly election holds significant importance for the party.

In 1990, the BJD’s predecessor, the Janata Dal led by Biju Patnaik, secured 123 seats, setting a record. Now, the BJD aims to surpass this record in the upcoming election1.

Contrastingly, the survey report predicts that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win 13 seats, whereas Congress will win 4 seats, CPM- 1, and an independent one.
