Bhubaneswar youth commits suicide by jumping off Kathajodi bridge

Cuttack, Oct 20: A youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the bridge on Kathajodi river connecting Cuttack-Bhubaneswar road on Wednesday. The person has been identified as Tapan Kumar Behera. He is a courier and a resident of the Kharabela Nagar area in Bhubaneswar. Sources said, Tapan arrived at Kathajodi Bridge on his Activa scooter, bearing registration number OR 02 PR 7956, on the bridge and jumped off into the river. The passer-by spotted him and immediately informed the local firefighters and police. On being informed, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team and Police Commissionerate team reached the spot. The ODRAF team launched a search operation to trace the missing youth and recovered Tapan’s body from the river. The exact reason behind such an incident is yet to be ascertained.
