Kendrapada, Jan 4: Bhitarakanika National Park in Odisha’s Kendrapada district will remain closed for visistors from January 5 to 13 to carry out the counting of saltwater crocodiles and birds.
Teams consisting of Forest Department personnel and experts will conduct the census in five ranges. The teams will be given training on January 9 while the census will be carried out on 10, 11 and 12, informed Rajnagar DFO Sudarshan Gopinath Yadav.
Situated in the estuarial expanse of the Bramhani-Baitarani rivers within Odisha's Kendrapara district, Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary is renowned as the sole rainforest in the state, celebrated for its estuarine crocodiles.
