Bear gets stranded climbing tree to eat ripe mangoes, rescue operation on

Nuapada, May 23: A bear has climbed up a mango tree to sip ripe mangoes at Ghuchaguda village in Nuapada district today. Joint operation of police and forest official is on to rescue the bear from the top of the tree. Sources said, a bear from Sinapalli foest range climbed up a mango tree near Ghuchapali in the wee hour of Saturday. However, it could not come down after frantic effort. Meanwhile, it became panic due to the crowd under the tree. As a result, it remained atop instead of coming down. Being informed, police and forest official rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation to carry the bear down. However, by 11.30 am the operation could not be successful. Effort is on to rescue it safely. It may need another some hours to bring it down with the help of countrymade swing (Jholla), said a forest official.
