Bhubaneswar: The dispute over Lord Lingaraj Temple land at Nuagaon Mouza took new turn as a notice, seeking halt of illegal construction works on the land, was found pasted on a temple wall this morning.

The letter, which was undersigned by an official of the Endowment Commission, warned the Badu Nijog Samiti Secretary not to construct any building on the land illegally. However, it suspected to be a fake one first as it didn’t have mentions of date and number on it. However, the Endowment Commissioner later confirmed that it had put the notice without date and number as the last two days were holidays.

Later, the Commission convened a joint meeting of the Badu Nijog and Brahman Pujapanda Nijog to short out the issue. However, Badu Nijog members attended the meeting only and Brahman Pujapanda Nijog didn’t turn up to the meeting.

It may be noted that Lord Lingaraj in the 11th Century shrine has not been offered bhog for the last two days due to the quarrel between the two Nijog groups.

According to reports, the two Nijog groups have been are at loggerheads as they both claim possession over the land. The quarrel started as a group started constructing a structure on the land yesterday.
