Rourkela, Oct 8: Vigilance sleuths today arrested assistant clerk (offence section) working in Sundargarh Divisional Forest Office on charges of demanding and accepting bribe. Vigilance sleuths said that the clerk identified as Srikant Hota has demanded bribe of Rs 10,000 from one complainant in order to process the file for the release of compensation amount on account of the death of his father by a wild elephant in the year 2019. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Monday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection, a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on properties of Hota at two places in Sundargarh.
