Koraput, Aug 14: The border dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh over the Kotia group of villages has intensified further. After the neighbouring state planned to open schools in the disputed villages to impart education in Telugu language, the Odisha government has put up plaques in Odia language welcoming people into the villages. Before Andhra Pradesh could erect plaques, the Odisha government has installed language-based plaques in the Kotia area. Recently, the state president of a major political party in Andhra Pradesh visited the Kotia area and demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government should put up Telugu plaques in all villages in the panchayat. This has been the subject of much discussion in the political arena of Odisha. Pottangi MLA Pritam Padhi, Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati, former MP Pradeep Majhi and BJD's Koraput district president Ishwar Chandra Panigrahi warned that such statements by Andhra Pradesh political leaders would be strongly opposed. However, before the Andhra Pradesh plaque is erected, the Odisha government welcomed the Kotia Panchayat by placing plaques in Odia language at Neredibalasa and Tadibalasa.
