Antenatal check-up programme by Tata Steel Foundation

Joda, Sep 25: With an objective to ensure proper healthcare services to pregnant women in the area, an antenatal checkup programme was organised by Tata Steel Foundation at Joribar village of Jurudi on Friday. A total of 30 pregnant women from various villages namely Hesabeda, Phalsa Kha and Joribar participated in the programme. Dr Sisir Kumar Pattanaik, Community Health Centre, Kamarjoda graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Dr Prafulla Kumar Mohanto, Dr Rashmi Das, Basudevpur Community Health Centre and Dr Anmol Tigga, Tata Steel Foundation. Apart from providing preventive health care to the pregnant women, the awareness and checkup session also aimed at creating awareness among them regarding importance of ante-natal care. Antenatal care is the systemic supervision of women during pregnancy to monitor the progress of foetal growth and to ascertain the well-being of the mother and the foetus. A proper antenatal check-up provides necessary care to the mother and helps identify any complications of pregnancy such as anemia, pre-eclampsia and hypertension etc. in the mother and slow growth of the foetus.
