Angul admin ready for flood management in Athmallik and Tikarapara

Angul, Aug 14:With the swelling of the Mahanadi due to incessant rain and discharged water from Hirakud near Athamallik,Tikarapada and Kiakata area under the Angul district, the district administration has taken elaborate measures to manage the possible flood situations in the low-lying  areas. Kudgagon village under the Athmallik subdivision has been reportedly submerged and separated from the mainland. Similarly, the Tikarapada area under the Angul Sub-division is on the verge of flood due to the gushing water of the Hirakud reservoir in the Mahanadi. {"id":205282,"width":838,"height":1225,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} Anticipating moderate flood situation in the bank of the Mahanadi, the Angul district administration has visited vulnerable spots and undertaken a field level assessment in association with the line departments including emergency, revenue and food supply. Sub-Collector, Athmallik along with the revenue field officials have inspected the flood situation visiting the Kudgaon village on Saturday.At the same time,  Angul district officials visited Tikarpara area to manage the flood situations at Goindi and Beherasahi village. Sub Collector Angul has directed the concerned officials to be vigilant and to interact with the Ghata Sahi villagers about the flood situation at Tikrapada. As the water level at the Kudgaon village increased, an evacuation process is underway from the area in presence of Sub-Collector Athmallik. ODRAF boats and special transport vehicles have been engaged to evacuate people to safe places.
