Cuttack, June 12: Villagers of Sirasundarpur have recovered an ancient Panchamukhi Bhairab statute from the Kakatpur branch canal on Friday. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has claimed it to be the second biggest statue of Panchamukhi Bhairab in the state. At the same time, the research personnel of INTACH Dipak Kumar Nayak studied on it and furnished a detail report on its origin. According to the report, the remnant of statue is of lord Shiva which was built almost 1000 years ago. It is one of the rare forms of lord Shiva mostly worshipped in the eastern and southern states more probably during the 9th and 10th A.C.    On the other hand, the villagers are worshiping the statue as an incarnation of lord Shiva after establishing it on a cement platform in the street.
