Amarinder Singh to form ‘Punjab Vikas Party’ soon, sources

Chandigarh, Oct 1: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is set to float his own party ‘Punjab Vikas Party’, according to sources. Media reports surfaced of Singh forming a new regional party after his return from the national capital meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. After returning from New Delhi, Singh stated that he is not going to stay with the Congress any longer and insisted that he will not be joining the BJP. Media reports further stated that nearly a dozen Congress leaders were in touch with Amarinder Singh. He convene a meeting of leaders close to him in a few days to consider the formation of his new party, which will include all the leaders of the anti-Sidhu faction. Reportedly, Singh is consulting with his supporters to chalk out a plan of action and likely to meet some farmer leaders in the state before floating a new party.
