Bhubaneswar, July 18: The state government said funds allocated under ‘Ama Odisha, Nabin Odisha’ scheme by the previous BJD government would be probed and irregularities committed would be brought to public domain.
This scheme, launched by the previous BJD government, is now under scrutiny for various irregularities.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik revealed that there is no record of projects sanctioned, progress achieved, or completion under the scheme.
The scheme aimed to enhance rural infrastructure, boost digital connectivity, and promote Jagannath cult, with each panchayat receiving Rs.50 lakh.
The scheme, launched with a budget of ₹4,000 crore, was monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office but executed by district rural development agencies and blocks.
Naik mentioned that the funds were managed without accountability, with work orders issued in the name of junior engineers and monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The investigation will assess fund utilization and unspent balances to decide on better fund usage for the panchayats.
