Bhubaneswar, May 22: The alumni of College of Engineering and Technology (CET) Bhubaneswar have demanded Unitary University status to the institution. They have adopted a social tool in the aegis of # SANGHARS to garner public support for their mission. Getting enormous support from the elites and well wishers within 14 days of the campaign they have submitted formal memorandum to the Chief Minister on Friday. According to the General Secretary of the CET Students’ Association Abhisek Pani, CET has been accredited as the A grade institution while the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accorded it Autonomous status since 2017. It has represented in the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) that is manned by Ministry of Human Resources Development Department and sponsored by the World Bank. However, the institute has not been declared to be a Unitary University so far. As a result, higher studies like research and fellowship programmes are affected like everything. In this situation, Unitary University status can make the institution more potential and updated, said Pani.
