Cuttack, Sep 29: The Orissa High Court has rejected the pleas of liquor vendors relating to allotment of liquor shops through lottery on Wednesday. A bench of Orissa High Court has denied interfering in the state’s matter. According to the petitions filed by as many as 20 premium liquor vendors, the Odisha government has formulated new laws regarding allotment of liquor vendors. According to it, the selection of vendors will be made through lottery instead of auctions. However, the interested parties have been asked to deposit non-refundable  security worth Rs 1,00000 to participate in the lottery process. Opposing the lottery process with the norms, over 20 liquor traders had moved Orissa High Court. Hearing the plea, the bench rejected the petitions of the traders and upheld the stand of the Odisha government.
