AIIMS Bhubaneswar pays tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee who laid the foundation stone of it on his birth anniversary

Bhubaneswar, Dec 25: AIIMS, Bhubaneswar paid homage to Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of the country and legendary statesman, on his 96th birth anniversary inside of its premises today. Dr. GitanjaliBatmanbane, Director, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Medical Superintendent, Pradeep Kumar Ray, Deputy Director (Administration), and others have paid their floral tribute on his birth anniversary by garlanding the statue of late Vajpayee, which was installed in the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar campus last year. Vajpayee had laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, on 15 July 2003 when he was the country's prime minister. AIIMS, Bhubaneswar is the second AIIMS in the country, and the only AIIMS whose foundation stone was laid by Vajpayee. AIIMS, Bhubaneswar has also celebrated his birth anniversary as the day of Good Governance to remember Vajpayee's outstanding contribution to the development of modern India in infrastructure, education, and health care, etc. Since independence, the country had only one AIIMS and declared six new AIIMSs in under-developed health care areas such as Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Patna Raipur, and Rishikesh. Now, all these AIIMS have become full-fledged and providing affordable tertiary health care to the poor and underserved people of the country besides emerging as an Institute of National Importance for Medical Education and Nursing Education. AIIMS, Bhubaneswar has become the most sought-after Institute for MBBS students after AIIMS, New Delhi amongst all AIIMSs. It has also become a trusted Health Care Institute in eastern India. All the faculty members, Resident doctors, Nursing officers, students, and staff have resolved to fulfil the vision of Vajpayee to establish AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, and follow his ideals to serve the poor & underprivileged and bring more success for this Institute.
