Agitation sparks over PCR van accident in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, Nov 6: Agitation sparked in Jharsuguda on Saturday, over the death of a youth due to a PCR van accident. The incident took place at Chikharapalli square under the Rengali police limit where Sagar Meher (21), a native of Palsada village. Sagar’s family members alleged that Sagar and his friend Satyaban Telenga were passing the Chikharapali road late on Friday night while a PCR van of Rengali police hit the duo from the forefront. They sustained critical injuries. They were immediately rushed to the TLR hospital for medical care. However, Meher succumbed to his injuries during treatment. aggrieved over it, locals staged an agitation in Rengali police demanding stern action against the erred police. However, Jharsuguda SP denied the allegations raised by the deceased’s family members. He said the youth died after an unidentified vehicle tossed him. Police rescued him from the spot and admitted him to the hospital. On the other hand, legal actions will be initiated against the offender who allegedly took laws into their hands during the agitation broke out in the PS premises, he added.
