Gajapati, July 19: While the police are yet to find the reason behind the Paralakhemundi ACF Soumya Ranjan’s death, the deceased's mother has alleged that her son and daughter-in-law had no physical relation even after around eight months of their marriage. She alleged that her daughter-in-law Bidya Bharati was not in favour of any physical relation with Soumya Ranjan. According to her, Soumya Ranjan frequently raised his voice against his wife's non-cooperation. It resulted in serious misunderstandings between them. Once at late night, after a fight between them, Bidya Bharati went out of the government residence. Later, she was traced at Gajapati DFO Sangram Sekhar Behera’s residence, she added. Subsequently, after an amicable settlement, both agreed not to keep any physical relation up to a year, the mother said. . However, Soumya Ranjan was remaining depressed few months after his marriage, she said In the meantime, Soumya Ranjan succumbed to burn injuries all of a sudden, one week ago in a suspicious condition. During the investigation, local police found no clue regarding any fire mishap due to an electrical short circuit or domestic gas leakage or explosion. To everyone’s surprise, no circumstantial evidence was collected from the spot, the room of his government quarter, about fire mishap, even burning odour or smoke. At the same time, Soumya’s parents and uncle alleged that Soumya had been charred to death elsewhere with a preplan, following which he was carried to the residence in order to evade police action. Particularly, they pointed fingers towards the daughter-in-law, the DFO and the cook Manmath Kumbha. On the other hand, the trio refuted such charges. However, acting on the written complaint of Soumya’s father, police took the trio into the ambit of investigation and registered a murder case. Subsequently, Bidya Bharati, the DFO and the concerned cook have been booked on the charges of murder and conspiracy. At the same time, police have seized some handwritten documents from Soumya’s room. Meanwhile, a six-member team led by the Gajapati Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) has taken up further investigation.
