Nuapada, June 29: In one of the rare decisions, an accused has been released in Odisha on Tuesday after he was convicted by the court. The unprecedented incident came to the fore in the Nuapada district, when the JMFC court, Nuapada released a man after he was convicted in connection with illegal trading of country liquor. The accused identified as Chudamani Sabar was released on the ground of old age despite he was convicted in the case. Sources said that one Chudamani Sabar was lodged in the Nuapada Jail from September 27, 2015 as an UTP. Meanwhile, he was convicted by the JMFC court today and ordered another 3 year imprisonment. However, the hearing Judge, Rita Tripathy took pity on the convict as he was more than 70 years old. She issued release order of Sabar by virtue of the PO Act.
