Abducted Anganwadi worker rescued in Dhenkanal, 1 arrested

Dhenkanal, Mar 7: An Anganwadi worker who was abducted by her lover has been rescued by Gondia police from Jharada village in the district today. The accused identified as Jagabandhu Guru (26) has also been arrested by the police from the spot. According to police, the 23-year-old woman working in an Anganwadi centre of Bhuban was having an affair with Jagabandhu. Taking advantage of her trust, Jagabandhu recorded some obscene videos of the victim following which he threatened her to make the videos viral and abducted her from her residence on March 5. Further, he took her to one of his relative’s house in the same village. However, the victim managed to contact Niramala Gochayat, IIC of Gandia police station and narrated her ordeal, based on which the police reached the spot and rescued the victim. After the medical examination of both, the accused was court forwarded today, said an official.
