80 servitors to take part in Chandan Jatra in Puri

Puri, May 13: Keeping in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state, only 80 servitors will be allowed to take part in the Chandan Jatra festival this year in Puri, informed the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Dr. Krishan Kumar. Addressing a presser Kumar mentioned though the Chandan Jatra is being organised this year, general public are restricted from attending it due to the unprecedented crisis. Like last year, this year also the construction of the chariots will take place as per the Covid-19 protocols. Talking about the safety of the servitors, Kumar said, the Chief Minister has expressed his concern over their safety following which the servitors who are going to take part in different activities for the Chandan Yatra are going to be inoculated with the Covid-19 jabs. Along with that, they will be also tested for Covid-19 before commencing their duties for the Yatra. Servitors those who have inoculated their jabs and tested negative for the virus shall only be provided special pass to take part in the Chandan Yatra, said Kumar.
